Description:
Sherfield Village Fete is one of the largest events of its kind in North Hampshire, attended by over 3000 visitors each year. This year’s fete will take place on our beautiful 8.5 acre village green on Saturday 8th June, from 12:00-17:00, when once more we aim to present an afternoon of fun for all the family, with the aim of raising funds with all profits going to local charities and good causes.
Last year our fete raised £9,000 which was shared between Basingstoke and District Young Carers (our main chosen charity), the Village Hall and several other local groups. Our chosen lead charity for 2024 is North West Hampshire Home-Start, who are based in Basingstoke and offer support to new parents who may be struggling, through one-on-one contact with volunteers who have parenting experience.
We strive to create a traditional village fete atmosphere, with a featured theme each year which informs our choice of lead attractions. We have a medieval theme this year and the Medieval Combat Society will be performing. They will also have an encampment on the site offering a number of activities relevant to the age.
We aim to have a wide range of stalls offering goods for sale, amusements, food and information. The fete is particularly keen to encourage the presence of small scale independent traders, offering home-made or hand finished craft items of all descriptions. Our apologies, but market traders and car boot type stalls will not be accepted.
Standard outdoor pitches measure 6m x 4m, and cost £32. Larger pitches can be made available on request and will be charged proportionately. Food pitch prices vary depending on offering and requirements. Local, non commercial groups (Brownies etc) and some individuals qualify for a reduced pitch fee, and we may also at our discretion reduce or waive pitch fees for charitable or non-profit stalls (e.g. those providing information only).
