Ritherdon Turns 130 – Join the Celebrations!

This year marks a huge milestone for us at Ritherdon — we’re turning 130 years old!

From our beginnings in 1895 as a small family workshop, to today’s modern factory in Darwen, we’ve always been about solving practical problems with smart engineering. Over the years, we’ve evolved into electrical enclosure specialists, working closely with customers across highways, utilities, housing and beyond.

From Heritage to Innovation.

Our products have changed a lot over the decades however the principle has always stayed the same: build things that last. From Meter Boxes and Feeder Pillars to Passively Safe Cabinets and now our latest innovation - the PVC Cabinet - we continue to design and manufacture Enclosures that meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

The PVC Cabinet is a great example of how we’re moving with the times: durable and sustainable, it’s designed to minimise environmental impact while still delivering the strength and performance our customers rely on. Sustainability and continuous improvement are now firmly part of our company culture - because looking forward is just as important as honouring our history.

Factory Tours – A Peek Behind the Scenes

As part of our 130th birthday celebrations, we’re opening the doors to give people a rare behind-the-scenes look at how we work.

• Two public tours: Discover our history, see how our products are made and learn more about our heritage.
• One private customer tour: A special invite for our customers to see production in action, explore the latest product developments and enjoy lunch with the Ritherdon team.

It’s not every day you get to walk through 130 years of British manufacturing!

Charity Family Fun Day – Save the Date

And of course, we couldn’t celebrate without a party. On Saturday 20th September 2025, we’ll be hosting a Charity Family Fun Day in Darwen, packed with activities:

• Dog Competition
• Open Mic
• Food & Drink Stalls
• Fairground Rides
• Raffles
• Face Painting
• Magician Andrew Dean

All our proceeds will go to local charities close to our hearts.
